Innovative Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) Solution

In direct response to the vision set forth by both the project owner and the architect, a state-of-the-art Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) system was delivered for the Bank of China project. This solution features double-laminated BIPV glass, specifically engineered with a low-emissivity (low-e) coating and designed to provide 40% transparency. Such a configuration achieves a careful balance, allowing ample natural light to filter into the space while maintaining exceptional solar heat performance.

The implementation of this advanced glass technology creates an impressive environment, effectively managing both glare and shading. At the same time, it contributes to the generation of renewable energy, which is a pivotal component in advancing the project toward its ambitious goal of achieving a zero-net energy building.

Unprecedented Scale and Engineering Excellence

The most remarkable feature of this installation is its record-breaking scale. Each BIPV panel measures an extraordinary 1200mm by 4300mm, establishing this project as the world’s largest installed skylight of its kind. This outstanding accomplishment not only highlights the innovative spirit of the project but also stands as a testament to South Star Glass’s superior engineering and glass processing capabilities.
