South Star helped bring a new level of refinement and material innovation to the Cartier boutique on Beijing Road, Hong Kong—an environment where architectural expression, brand heritage, and advanced glass technology meet. The design draws from Cartier’s legacy of Parisian elegance, translating the maison’s signature motifs into a contemporary façade that feels both sculpted and luminous. This project required glass that could communicate luxury in daylight while transforming into a glowing landmark after dark.

A key feature of the storefront is the use of digitally printed stone pattern glass combined with a digitally printed copper mesh motif. Rather than relying on real metal layers, the copper effect is achieved entirely through high resolution ceramic printing, allowing precise control of color, translucency, and texture. The stone pattern provides depth and a carved material appearance, while the printed mesh introduces a warm, jewelry like shimmer that echoes Cartier’s iconic palette. This pairing creates a façade that feels solid and architectural during the day, yet refined and jewel like under illumination.

The façade’s dual personality becomes most striking at night. In daylight, the glass reads as elegant stone tiles—matte, textured, and monolithic. After sunset, internal lighting activates the printed layers, turning the entire surface into a softly glowing light box. The mesh pattern diffuses the light, producing a warm radiance that enhances the boutique’s street presence and reinforces Cartier’s identity as a house of light and craftsmanship.

South Star also extended its specialty support into the boutique’s interior. The curved staircase handrails were produced using a hot bent process, required due to the tight curve radius and Cartier’s demand for flawless optical quality. The result is a seamless transition from exterior to interior, where every glass element contributes to a cohesive, elevated retail experience.
